Herwiyani Homfray (Yani) was born and raised in Indonesia. She started her professional career in Jakarta, drawing on her Economics and Management degree. She moved to the UK in 2005, first to Swansea, South Wales, and then, in 2013, to Scotland.

Yani began learning to draw and paint at a very young age. Moving to the UK has given her more time to explore her art and develop her distinctive style. Over the past few years, her artwork has moved from naturalistic to impressionist. Originally working mainly in oils, she now works in acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media using a brush, palette knife adding pastels, inks, and collage. Her powerful, confident artworks use strong colours and have vitality, dynamic composition and movement. Recent works are in a more contemporary, semi-abstract style.

Yani paints a variety of subjects, including street scenes, landscape, flowers and nature. Her work has been collected by many art lovers, and she sells to collectors from around the world. She is an active member of the Drymen Art Club.
